Love the outdoors? Enjoy walking? Fancy a challenge? Why not take part in 'TheBigWalk' 2019 and help us bring more Christian Faith, Hope and Love to children and young people!
As part of our 25th birthday celebrations, we are thrilled to be launching 'TheBigWalk'. In partnership with Sarum Academy, we will be walking from the school on July 15th 2019 and we'll be joined by all the students and staff! You have 3 choices of route, depending on fitness and ability levels. Both the 8km (circular walk) and 25km routes will begin at Sarum Academy at 9.30am. The 17km route will depart, also from Sarum Academy, at 12.30pm (after a lunch break) and will take in further schools that we serve and end up at St Thomas' Church in Salisbury where refreshments will be provided. All you need to do is sign up, find some friends to join you and/or sponsor you and we'll give you your sponsorship form! Please help us raise crucial funds that will enable us to serve more and more schools, students and staff across the Salisbury area in the years to come. For a pack and to sign up, please put your name in the form to the side and we'll send you your official 'BigWalk' pack. Or you can email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any additional questions.
Q. How will the routes work?
A. The start of the walk will be the same for those undertaking both the 8km and 25km routes. We will walk with all the students and staff from Sarum Academy at 9.30am, taking in Bemerton Heath, Five Rivers, Old Sarum and then coming back on ourselves, back to the school. We expect that the pace will be slower for this part of the walk, because of the sheer numbers. We will then encourage all participants to bring a packed lunch that can be enjoyed in the school, alongside refreshments, before the continuation of the walk at 12.30pm, where participants for the 17km will join us. The rest of the walk is subject to planning at the moment but we anticipate that it will take in Harnham, Laverstock and the surrounding area (perhaps other schools for refreshment/loo breaks), finishing at St Thomas' Church where refreshments will once again be provided.
Q. What do I need?
A. All you need is a decent pair of walking shoes, packed lunch and plenty of water. There will be some stewards on the walk and we will take in water stops.
Q. How much do I need to raise?
A. There is absolutely no minimum amount and certainly no maximum either! Sponsorship forms will be provided as soon as you sign up and we can help you add publicity through email or social media if you like.
Q. Why are we doing this?
A. We have sadly had to turn down an unprecedented number of schools recently, both primary and secondary. There are so many opportunities to grow and develop the work but funding is always tricky and so we are so grateful to supporters for their dedication and encouragement.
