What Is Bridge Chaplaincy?
At the heart of The Bridge Youth Project is a simple but powerful vision: to give every child and young person the space to grow in their wellbeing and spirituality, so they can live life in all its fullness.
We are reimagining what Chaplaincy in schools looks like. Since 2012, Bridge Chaplains have been a consistent, trusted presence in schools, offering time, care, and a listening ear to students and staff alike.
Rooted in Christian faith, our chaplaincy is open to all, and shaped by our core framework of Faith, Hope and Love.

Rooted in Christian faith, our chaplaincy is open to all, and shaped by our core framework of Faith, Hope and Love.
- Faith - We help young people to explore the big questions of life, make sense of the world around them, and discover what it means to live with purpose and identity. Bridge Chaplains gently create space and time for spiritual reflection and growth, whether through collective worship, prayer spaces, RE input, or one-to-one conversations. We also support schools in their spiritual development journey, contributing to themed weeks, shaping values and ethos, and creating intentional moments of awe, wonder, and stillness in the rhythm of school life.
- Hope - For students, staff and families alike, Bridge Chaplains offer a consistent and compassionate presence- someone to talk to, someone who truly hears them, and someone who takes the time to notice the unique needs within each individual school. From quiet chats at the school gate to check-ins with staff or time spent with a young person navigating a difficult moment, our chaplains help nurture a culture of care and encouragement. Their presence brings perspective and support, adding an extra layer of pastoral care and devotion to the life of the school community.
- Love - Bridge Chaplains champion courageous advocacy, student leadership and community connection. They help schools forge meaningful partnerships with local churches, charities and volunteers, opening up opportunities for students to serve and lead beyond the classroom. Whether it is supporting social action projects, mentoring young leaders or helping embed values across school life, chaplains nurture a culture of belonging and purpose, creating capacity for the school, and ensuring every young person is encouraged to use their voice and make a difference.
Every school is unique and each Chaplain brings their own gifts, skills and life experience to the table. We always sit down with each school to identify how we can enrich that specific school community within these three core areas, setting goals for each respective year and deepening the levels of impact over time. We are passionate about Chaplaincy being a long-term provision; journeying with students from reception to sixth form and building connections with staff members and the wider school community.
