Well we're absolutely thrilled to announce that John Glen, our local MP, has agreed to become the Bridge Youth Project's first ever patron! John has a real passion for education, young people and of course has a faith of his own too. In addition to this, John brings a wealth of experience and connections that can only benefit us in our mission to bring Christian faith, hope and love to young people across the Salisbury area. We are very grateful to John and his team for their support and look forward very much to welcoming him more officially in the future.

Farewell's and hello's! - May 12th 2017
We've recently said goodbye to some very faithful servants of The Bridge Project in what has been a real time of change for us and we'd just like to acknowledge them all.
Dan Chirnside, our Secondary Schools' Team Leader and Bridge Lay Chaplain for several years, left us to become Associate Minister at Salisbury Baptist Church a few weeks ago. Dan did a tremendous job at developing chaplaincy in a number of secondary schools and growing the team of paid staff and volunteers. His biggest passion was to see a genuine bridge built between the schools and churches and that is something that we want to continue seeing built across this area. Thank you, Dan!!
We have also said goodbye to Di Webb, who spent almost a decade volunteering across the primary and secondary work. Di was an absolute stalwart of The Bridge and leaves us to focus on ministry with Brian, her husband and her lovely Grandchildren. There's an expression where someone is described as a 'jack of all trades, master of none'; well Di was someone who seemed to be to do everything brilliantly and had a heart of gold. Thank you, Di!
Yvonne Ballard is also leaving us after almost 3 years of regularly volunteering across the primary schools with us. Yvonne brought a wonderful, quiet passion to everything she did and was utterly committed to doing whatever she could do to help. Yvonne did so much in so many different areas and we are so grateful to her; she will be very much missed. Yvonne leaves us in order to focus on securing paid employment and we wish her every best in this venture. Yvonne, thank you!!
We are also due to say goodbye to Ali Taber in a couple of weeks. Ali is getting married to Chris next month and leaves us to focus on what God has in store for them both. We are hugely indebted to all that Ali has been and done over the past 18 months; God has used her in many wonderful ways in her faithful service Sarum Academy every single week, giving up paid work on Tuesdays to volunteer as a Lay Chaplain. Ali has a huge heart for young people and an infectious faith and we are so thankful to her for all she has done.
At a time when we look forward to welcoming Dave Luft, our new Secondary Schools' Team Leader on June 5th; welcome Sarah Alford to the primary team and Sophie Burditt back from maternity leave in July and look to appoint two further posts in the coming months ahead, we don't really say 'goodbye' to those leaving us but merely a 'see you later!'

The new academic year is upon us and it's already been an action packed and exciting few days together! There are a number of new people to welcome aboard. We have said a sad goodbye to Becca Inglis, who has been our Mentoring Coordinator over the past 12 months. Becca has done an amazing job at getting the scheme up and running and established and she leaves us to become a science teacher at St Edmund's Girls' School. However, we also have the pleasure of welcoming Kate Moody as our new Mentoring Coordinator from this September! Kate has been a TA for a number of years and comes with a real passion to connect churches with local schools through the mentoring project. We also welcome Jen Rundle onto the team, who will be accompanying Sophie each week as a Lay Chaplain. Jen will then take over from Sophie from December onwards in a maternity cover position. We're also delighted to officially introduce Jenny Ho and Graeme Brown to the Bridge team. Jenny will be helping out with the primary section principally and Graeme will be working at Salisbury Sixth Form College one or two days a week. A huge thank you to all of you for your fantastic support over the past 12 months, we're looking forward to seeing all that God will do in us and through us over the next year!
We'd like to convey a huge thank you to everyone connected to the fabulous Redlynch Players and their most recent production of the play, 'We Were There'. It was a wonderfully thought-provoking portrayal of the Easter story, with a number of characters telling their story such as Mary Magdalene, Pontius Pilate, Judas, etc. The Redlynch Players toured a number of churches and over 380 people came to watch. We are absolutely thrilled to report that £1,506.23 was raised towards the work of the Bridge Project. Can we please encourage supporters of the Bridge to check out their website and Facebook page and to ensure that you view any future performances. http://www.redlynchplayers.co.uk

On Saturday 12th September Lesley took part in the Thames Path Challenge with her friend Rhoda Wilson. The length of walk they completed was 29 km's(!) and they managed to complete it in 4hrs 58 mins! A fantastic achievement.
Lesley raised over £850 for The Bridge in total! We want to thank her for all her training, commitment and energy that was put into completing this challenge. If you still wish to sponsor Lesley at this late stage then please do by clicking here. You can enjoy the slideshow to the left. Congratulations to both of you! If anyone else wishes to undertake a fundraiser/challenge to raise money for The Bridge, please do get in touch with Tara in the office or contact Lesley by clicking on her photo on 'team pages'. |
Hi, my name is Yvonne, and I am a volunteer for the primary team.
My involvement started after The Bridge Project came to speak at Amesbury Baptist Church last year and I really felt God tug at my heart to say ‘This is something you could do!’
Although I was not very confident in front of the children at first, I had a lot of help andencouragement and each week I improved. I loved seeing the children’s faces light up with excitement as they played with the puppets and shared with us their own thoughts and stories.
Getting to know the children was lovely during the social skills sessions, sharing with them stories and games; we had a lot of fun together. The children also began to open up to us too, about issues and concerns in their own lives.
Just before the summer holidays I joined with other team members to bring `Celebration of Change`to the school rooms. The children loved the games and crafts, they had lots of questions from the video clips, which was so lovely to see; it was great to spend a whole day with them.
I have also enjoyed the Monday morning meetings very much, I find they are so encouraging and uplifting; it sets me up for the week!
Though I have not been with The Bridge Project for very long, I have already made many new friends
My time so far has been a really blessed, exciting and enjoyable. I have loved every second of it!

15/05/15- Well, we're delighted to say that the Bridge Mentoring Scheme Pilot has officially launched at Wyvern College. Three super mentors from across the churches have gone into the College this week and six mentees will be benefitting from weekly sessions until the end of the summer term. This is all with the hope of launching an official Bridge Mentoring Scheme across the City, from September onwards. We believe strongly in the potential of many people from across the churches making excellent mentors for young people in our schools. Our young people are crying out for a listening area, a genuine role-model and a consistent, reliable presence in their life. This is hopefully the start of something fruitful for our schools. Watch this space!
13/02/15- Tickets are now selling for the Bridge Quiz Night and Fish and Chip Supper on Friday March 13th at St Francis Church! This promises to be a fun and exciting night for everyone. Doors open at 7pm and we're encouraging people to put together teams of 8 to fill a table. We'll also be running a servant auction for people to 'sell' services on the night, such as babysitting, gardening, taxi runs, meals, etc! We will then auction these on the night and every penny will go towards the work of the Bridge. If you have anything you'd like to offer, or if you'd like tickets, please get in touch with Tara in the office at [email protected] or 01980-655-521.
Welcome to the new Bridge website! Over the next few weeks we will be updating and populating the site with useful information and we are delighted to be starting weekly team blogs every week. Please do acquaint yourself with the site and don't be afraid to get in touch! 07/01/15
Well, we can't believe it's November 2014 already! The academic year certainly has kicked off with a bang. We had our 20 year Celebration and Commissioning service on 25th September, which was held at St Thomas's church in Salisbury.
It's been a hugely encouraging term so far and the team are hard at work across all the schools we work at in the Salisbury area. We have recruited a couple of new volunteers recently (watch this space!) and we have had the privilege of presenting at various churches and organisations over the past couple of months. Keep watching this space for more regular updates!
