Social Skills
Social Skills are designed for groups of four children chosen by their teachers who would really benefit from small group work. Our aim is to encourage the children to discuss issues such as low self-esteem, enable them to develop integrity, make wise choices and feel confident with their peers.
Each lesson includes a DVD clip, discussion time, games and worksheets. The children have a folder to stick their own work into, which they can take home at the end. All of our Social Skill groups run for five weeks and each lesson is an hour.
"As a result of these lessons children have been seen to be more confident in themselves, more accepting of other children's ideas and to have a better understanding of issues such as being punctual, being responsible and being ready" Claire Rendall Head of RE Wilton and Barford Primary School |

Key Stage 2 (age 9 - 11)
'You're Special' - This DVD by Max Lucado is all about a wooden person called 'Punchenello' who thinks he is not good at anything! We use this DVD as a basis to build up the children's self esteem.
'Green Noses' - Another DVD about 'Punchenello' by Max Lucado. This time as the title says, everyone in 'Wimicksville' wants a green nose! We use 'Green Noses' to cover the topic of negative peer pressure and to encourage children to make wise choices.
'Hitting the Road' - Is a DVD by Auto-B-Good which uses cartoon cars to tell a story each week. The topics which we cover are, Punctuality, Promptness, Readiness, Responsibility and Respectfulness.
'Bearing Good Fruit' - This also is a DVD by Auto-B-Good which shows the children how to develop good character. We cover the topics of Truthfulness, Thankfulness, Being positive, Perseverance and Wisdom.
