Ideas for schools and colleges
Schools and colleges are at the heart of The Bridge Project’s work. By fundraising for us, your pupils and students can support trusted chaplaincy and help other young people feel seen, known and valued.
Fundraising can also bring your school community together, develop leadership and teamwork, and give pupils a practical way to make a difference. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Sponsored class challenge
Could your tutor group, science class or drama group challenge another class to a sponsored race, swimathon, walk or sporting event?
Add some friendly competition by keeping a class leaderboard or setting a shared fundraising target.

Non-uniform day
It is a classic for a reason. Invite pupils and staff to make a small donation in exchange for wearing their own clothes to school for the day.
You could connect the day to a theme such as hope, kindness or belonging.

Themed day
Choose a theme that connects with the work of The Bridge Project, such as wellbeing, hope, listening, community or supporting others.
Pupils could wear a particular colour, take part in themed activities or create displays that raise awareness as well as funds.

Host an assembly
Introduce pupils and staff to the work of The Bridge Project and explain how school chaplains support young people through a trusted and consistent listening presence.
Pupils could help to plan and lead the assembly, share fundraising ideas and invite the whole school to get involved.

Quiz night
Host a quiz for pupils, families, staff or the wider school community. Charge an entry fee, include a raffle or sell refreshments to raise additional funds.

Cake sale or bake off
Invite classes, year groups or staff teams to take part in a bake-off challenge. Sell the cakes afterwards and donate the proceeds to The Bridge Project.

Choose The Bridge Project as your school or college’s Charity of the Year and support us through fundraising, awareness activities and special events across the academic year.

Churches have always been central to the story of The Bridge Project. Through prayer, generosity and practical support, your church can help us provide a trusted Christian presence in schools and communities, supporting children and young people in their wellbeing, spirituality and hope for the future.

Invite us to your church
Invite a member of The Bridge Project team to speak during a service, small group or church event. We can share stories from our work, explain the importance of school chaplaincy and help your congregation understand the difference their support can make.

Hold a collection or special offering
Dedicate a Sunday offering, harvest collection, carol service or other special event to the work of The Bridge Project.
A one-off gift or regular church contribution can help sustain chaplaincy in local schools and create more opportunities for young people to feel seen, known and loved.

Bring your church community together through a sponsored walk, cycle, run, sports challenge or family event.

Set up your fundraising page
The simplest way to collect donations and sponsorship is to create an online fundraising page through JustGiving.
It gives you an easy way to explain why you are supporting The Bridge Project, share your event with friends, family and colleagues, and keep everyone updated on your progress.
Donations made through your page come directly to us, so there is no need to collect or pay in cash yourself. It also makes it easy for supporters to give securely and add Gift Aid where eligible.
Once your page is live, share it by email, on social media, in newsletters and across your school, church or workplace community.

We trust Beacon to handle the processing of our online payments and gift aid contribution. You will see their name mentioned on the form when you click onto the form in the address bar.

Chaplaincy in schools
Through mentoring, clubs, workshops, prayer spaces, collective worship and individual support, our chaplains help young people grow in wellbeing, spirituality and hope.
