Do you give through Stewardship?
You can now support The Bridge Project there too.
We would love to invite you to join us on an adventure. For over 30 years, The Bridge Project has been part of local schools, from RE lessons to collective worship. Today our 12 chaplains serve 21 schools across Salisbury and the surrounding towns and villages, each one part of the school team.
Our heart is for every child in those schools to be seen, known and loved. That happens through one-to-ones, chats on the playground, mentoring, lunchtime and after-school clubs, collective worship and RE lessons (we will stop there, but the list is long!).
Why chaplaincy?
School chaplains are available and interruptible. They are the person who notices, listens and makes time, especially when things are difficult, uncertain or in transition.
Each of our chaplains is in school for at least one day a week, there for pupils, staff and families of all faiths and none. They walk alongside children through friendship worries, grief, the move to secondary school and everything in between.
Some of the things we get to hear….
"Other staff are often really stretched but with our Chaplain she has that time that no-one else seems to have!" (Headteacher)
"“That was what my spirit was seeking but I didn’t know it!”(Year 6 boy, after lunchtime club)
You’ve made such a difference today. It’s been a real right place, right time type of day, and you were at the right place at the right time.” (Primary Teacher)
“Can’t wait to see ‘Bridgeness’ at our school this year, which is joy, fun and sparkly!” (Primary Headteacher)
“She helps me understand my feelings better and we talk through how I can do better in school.” (Year 6 student)
Working together goes further
We want every school in our area that would love a chaplain to be able to have one. Schools face tight budgets, so they fund around a third of the cost of their chaplain. We raise the other two thirds through the generosity of individual donors, local businesses, churches, and grants and foundations.
We know our local community already cares about this as we have lots of generous giving but we know there is more we can all do together! This is what we are asking you to consider:
£29 a month
Over a year, helps fund a full day of chaplaincy in one of our schools
£100
Provides a mentoring box: the toolkit a mentor needs for icebreakers and games that help build a relationship with a child
£140
Helps a Year 5 or 6 pupil through our My Happy Place mentoring course, over 6 to 8 weeks
£348
Funds a full day of chaplaincy in one of our schools
